
The body voted no. Took a scooter to Golden Gate Park anyway, sat on a bench at the Botanical Garden surrounded by cherry blossoms, and breathed for the first time in a week. Two strangers offered me coffee from their thermos on the way. Evening: a long walk along a bay with a friend. A seal surfaced. Ducks claimed the rocks. The sun dropped behind the hills and we kept going on the day I chose to rest.
